Beginner "cheap" quad
#1
From the start I want to be clear.. I've learnt the lesson! There is no such thing like a cheap first quad!

If you are new into this hobby be prepare to spent at least triple what you have planned just for necessary equipment and accessories.. unless  your goal is to create some art hanged on the wall Big Grin

In the past few months i was researching and learning as much as I was able.. also I've neglected my favorite tv shows and replaced them with many YT channels. This mutirotor fever was so strong for me that i ended up buying a 3d printer.. but that's another story. In the meantime in the name of low budget i was scarping parts on liquidation and promotion sales.

This is what I’ve ended up:

Frame: Realacc 210 V2 210mm 4mm
PDB: Matek HUBOSD ECO H Type
FC: SP Racing F3
Motors: SunnySky Edge Racing R2205 2300KV
ESC: LittleBee 20A PRO F396 BLHeli
Receiver: Flysky X6B

HD Camera: Turnigy Black Edition 2K
Camera: Foxeer Monster V2 1200TVL 16:9
VTX: Eachine TX526
Antenna: Realacc 5.8Ghz 5dbi 4 Leaf

Goggles: Eachine VR D2 Pro (still waiting to arrive)
Transmitter: Flysky FS-i6S

Props: Kingkong 5040 5x4x3
Lipo Charger: iSDT SC-608
Lipo: 2xTattu 75c 1300mah, 3xCNHL 70c 1300mah
Bunch of accessories, tools, spares..

I expect a lot of crashes so i chose solid 4mm frame

i tried to solder clean as possible

Update:

Solved some issues with fpv camera mount. 3D printed adequate motor mounts and buzzer holder.

LOS Maiden went well :]

That's a nice list of parts for s first build, it should serve you well. Only one thing I notice but I can't be certain as I can't zoom in on your photo. But it appears that the pigtail (the power wires from your power distribution board used to connect your battery) appears to be very small. What gauge wire are you using and what type of plug?

Haha never mind, it's getting late and my brain's shutting down. I was looking at the connector for your camera. All good

Ah the expenses of quads... While my first build has managed to remain reasonable to budget (I started spending about $250, I am up to about $300 now)... I can easily say that I've spent more than triple on the hobby overall than I originally planned. I figured 1k-1500 would be an OK start, but since then with buying chargers, 10 lipos, a second ARF quad, this build that I was going to wait to do, tons of parts and tools that I either didn't have, needed an extras that I could keep in my travel box, or needed new ones cause the old ones were worn out from neglect of not needing them in a long time.... yes... triple sounds about right!

The build looks great so far. Hopefully it all goes smooth when put together and powers up properly Smile

The camera mount is awesome. It's a sticking point for me that seems to never be resolved. I made a DIY solution first that didn't last a single battery. Then I bought a little plastic "sled" which has been working sort of. The problem is I have to mount it with zip ties, and it comes off easily or in one case broke in crashes... and it's definitely seen its share of crashes.. This wedge that you've printed looks like a really great solution! Maybe I should start 3d printing to.... no... wait stop! I wont go quadruple!

Good luck with the build! I am sure it'll be great!

we should look at the expenses like an investment for the future which will be paid off by itself Smile  i own anet a8 printer.. you can get those relatively cheap plus there is another horizon opening. many cool stuffs there

for the camera mount i'm not 100% satisfied to be honest. The back support its kinda too short and it will be a direct hit for the lcd screen on my camera. I will try to redesign this to a higher rear protection or i will craft some foam with zip ties like you.

buying session or runcam3 with skeleton mount is the best solution but enough is enough (for now) Thinking
