I am renting a wooden house at the mo, so safe charging is a really big priority for me. Up till now I have only used 1S, I should probably invest in a safe lipo bag though, now I have got some 4S batteries on the way... Exciting times!
Same here, ceramic tile 12"x24". Ceramic is a natural fire barrier with a melting point of 2000 degrees and non-conductive unlike a metal plate. Lipo bags do not work very well (look it up on the youtubes). I store in a fire box meant to protect papers and files during a fire and keep it locked so the pressure can't blow it open if one does go up. Lipos at storage voltage are generally safe, that's why they're allowed on planes. During charging is when you're most at risk.
