Banggood Going Bankrupt?
#1
Banggood potentially going bankrupt is just a rumour at the moment from an unofficial source, but I really hope it's true because I hate that company with a passion.

If anyone is considering buying anything from Banggood then you might want to think twice until we know for sure what is going on to mitigate any chance of you potentially losing your money. And for anyone who has an affiliate account with Banggood, you might want to consider cashing in any remaining balance sooner rather than later as a precaution.

It was Pawel Spychalski who brought this to our attention in his YouTube short linked to below...

Never used them.

In fact if I need things from China, I tend to go to the directly to the manufacturer nowadays. Mostly it's niche items that have gone out of stock at UK suppliers (Frames, FC, Lipos) and only from specific manufacturers (well one particular one).

So not really a problem.

I've only used them twice in my life. Once to get some M1.6 screws because I couldn't find them anywhere else, and once to get a set of EV3000s for my bro. (He doesn't know yet lol!) Won't miss them if they go.

Never ordered through them, and never will- especially not after reading your saga about those DJI goggles, Snow.

They won’t be missed by me.
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

We have several companies in Australia who specialize in drop shipping and many orders that were placed during Black Friday sales are yet to be delivered.

In some extreme cases people are being notified that orders will be delivered next year Feb or March.

This gives companies the opportunity to hold excessive cash flows without actually delivering products to customers.

I am always a big supporter of local businesses but its a tough battle with companies like BG around.

Will I order stuff from overseas, yes I will. I recently ordered several hundred dollars worth of stuff for my machining hobby from the UK and that particular manufacturer has been in the business since WW2 Smile They stand by their products and quality.

They used to be very reliable some years ago. I think a lot of these type of web-shops follow the same path. They start of being very reliable and build a name for themselves over time only so they later can switch into "milk as much money as possible" mode. Deal Extreme, Gearbest and Fasttech are examples of this. Banggood switched into this mode well before the pandemic. I've continued to order stuff from them but only for things with a very small price tag, they seem to want to keep these kind of sales reliable to lure you into buying something more expensive and then pounce on you.

For flashlight related stuff there are a few Chinese vendors that are reliable, mainly because they are only focused on flashlight stuff and involved in the community, not generic shops like Banggood.

Kafie makes a very good point.

Banggood are notorious for listing a fake stock count or listing a fake expected shipping date against products, but it is only after they take your money that you then start getting a string of emails stating that shipping has been delayed, because they had no stock in the first place and are just using your money to generate themselves credit until they then have enough money from customers to place an order with the manufacturer.

This is the exact same thing that initially happened to me with the shipping of my DJI FPV Goggles before they ended up getting stolen in transit (my story is HERE), and I've also had shipping "delays" on other products that I've previously purchased from them. After the DJI Goggle debacle back in the middle of 2020 I stopped spending any more money with them, so it will be good riddance and a big party if they do end up going down the pan.

If you hand over your money to Banggood and then find yourself in this "delayed shipping" situation just keep in mind that if they go under during the period that they are holding onto your money in their bank account, then you risk losing your money entirely. Customers will be the last people on any creditors list and good luck trying to take any legal action against a foreign company who has been liquidated.

If you find yourself in Delayed Shipping, i'd cancel it and request a refund via your card company or Paypal.

So far ordering direct from manufacturers has been pretty smooth. i ordered a set of niche (read as BT2.0) Lipos from, well, you can guess who. They cost the same as the ones Unmanned generally have in stock and they arrived 9 days later. No hassle, no import tax hassle (but if you follow the import rules and keep the package cost under a certain amount it shouldn't be an issue regardless) and no courier hassle. So ordered a set of frames from them that aren't available over here at the moment. They are stuck in Christmas package hell somewhere in London along with the CNHL Lipos. Didn't really expect to get them until January though due to it being this shite part of the year. Can't wait for January 1st (and normality).

I am yet another one of us who did not have good experiences with them. Twice I ordered from them and twice I ended up having to get a refund after months of excuses. I think they did this to themselves.

I have never really had any bad experiences from them, but I haven't really ordered much from them, and I don't really consider them a source. I could care less if they go under or not.

They aren't priced that great typically. Lots of times, they are unreasonably high.

They turned me off when say shipping from the US warehouse is a certain amount, the total would mystically go up 15 or 20 bucks right before payment. Shipping from NJ to TX shouldn't be that much more, right.

The main things I have bought from them are when they have something I want severely discounted. I bought my Eachine Airloader for 99 bucks for the PNP kit and I got a replacement ZOHD dart from them for 55.

I have had some trouble from them, I got a set of racerstar motors from them, and inspite of me sending clear video evidence that they didn't work, they literally wouldn't turn, they would only offer a partial refund. Once I got a bum fixed wing flight controller from them. I have soldered up and ran this type in multiple fixed wing ships, this one was broken, they told me it was my fault, and told me to go pound stand.

If I need ultracheap chinawear and I am willing to wait on it, I just get it off Aliexpress, their shipping isn't that slow, and they actually have decent buyer protection, better than paypal's at least and always cheaper than banggood.

Honestly, if RDQ or getfpv has it, I just buy it from them. It is worth buying from and supporting a stateside distributor who has great customer service for only a few bucks more.

My rule is generally if it costs more than £100, buy it locally (or in the same country) from a reputable supplier and at least you have a decent warranty if it all goes to hell. Even for cheaper stuff i prefer to buy from shops in the UK.

The only reason for me ordering from abroad is if no supplier over here has what i want and maybe no alternative exists.

I ordered some M2 hardware of assorted sizes and the package was missing the size I needed the most.
I contacted customer service and they offered to give me a 50 cent coupon but they said they couldn’t take a loss to send me the missing screws.

If a company doesn’t address the small problems or make up nonsense excuses then they won’t address the big ones.
That was my last BG purchase.

I have purchased a few times from AliExpress and got some good results.

AliExpress sometimes has very good prices but when one seller has them at half of all the others it raises red flags.

Yeah, I still take the chance on aliexpress. For now at least I have had very good experience with aliexpress and their customer service. They just act like an intermediary like ebay. I had a seller ship me some li-ion battery packs, and the packs weren't performing, so I opened the pack and they were 1/3 the stated capacity. I sent them pictures where it was clearly the battery from the seller, and the 4000mah cells were 1500mah and I had my money back immediately and didn't even have to send them back. I recycled all of those cells which were useless for aircraft, and made a 3s10p battery for my daughters powerwheels.

I don't wish bad on any of their current customers, but BG can go to hell! I hope they go under. When I first started in the hobby a few years ago, I started purchasing from them. Then I received a faulty product and took months of getting lying emails on how the replacement had been shipped out. I finally filed with Paypal and got my money back which took another couple of weeks. By the way, years later, the part they said was shipped, still hasn't shown up...

As Snow said... good riddance!!!
