This evening i mounted vista module and crossfire with their own antennas. Day after day i realize that the space on this frame is optimized at it's best. Every module fits in its place without interference between one and the other but, in the end, everything seems to be well packed without waste of space. Crossfire Nano RX with Immortal T antenna in the front: at first i soldered the connectors on the top side of the FC but, since the pads are pass-through, i decided to solder the wires on the back, hiding everything below the FC and avoiding any wire to be accidentally ripped off while pulling the battery strap. Caddx Vista with Rush u.FL antenna in the rear: the module fits perfectly behind the capacitor and the space between them is small enough to bend the coaxial cable to the floor and let it pass below the ESC to the front of the frame. By the way, anyone knows the name of the 6 pin connector for the Air Unit mounted on the Kakute F7 HDV ? It is not a common SH1.0. I would like to replace it with a longer one. Finally, here is the finished stack. I hope that the space between ESC and FC will be enough for a proper air flow (even considering the motor wires and the other wires connecting the crossfire module), but I think it should be. As well as the wires and connections being better protected inside the stack, it makes the build look cleaner IMO. That space between the stack will be fine, even with the wires in there. It should be the gyro sensor enclosed in a Faraday cage. From version 1.6 they added this feature to reduce external electric interference. Totally agree! Anyway I would have preferred the same pads on both sides without holes. I don't like pass-through pads, I should always use a piece of tape on the other side to avoid tin to be sucked away. I will check for JST-GH, thanks! • Posts: 21,223 Threads: 583 Likes Received: 8,955 in 6,626 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 Through-hole pads are always better than copper pads that just sit on the surface of the board because the through-holes provide additional mechanical strength and it is also much more difficult to make a mistake and burn or lift them from the board. I personally prefer them but they take up valuable real estate on both sides of a board which is why you don't see them on many boards. The way to solder to them is to completely fill the hole with solder so it is starting to bulge out the other side of the hole and then solder the wire onto the preferred side. Then for aesthetics and neatness turn the board over, apply flux to the bulge of solder on the other side of the hole, and with the iron set to a high temperature and with a clean tip (none or very little solder on it), just drag the tip over the hole and it will wipe any excess solder away leaving a nice clean shiny flat dome (example photo of mine HERE). I also advise that you flash version 32.8 of BLHeli32 to the ESCs if you haven't already done so and configure variable PWM to be from 48kHz to 96kHz. This is working great on mine. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 Wow another museum level quality build!! You guys and your wire sheathing lol. (Says the guy who once re-sheathed every single wire on an ATX power supply ... for looks lol). • Posts: 356 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 55 in 28 posts Likes Given: 31 Joined: Oct 2020 Reputation: 4 Here I am... I'm back with this build! Unfortunately I've been very busy during the last month and I didn't have the chance of finalize this build! However... today I did it! Here are the results! The most difficult part was to find a proper place for the XT60 connector in order to avoid any wire chopping with 5.1" props. Finally I managed to do it by fixing the power wires to the frame in the following way: I will later replace some strips with a printed part but for now it should work. Hope to be able to tune it on Saturday!
