hi,

i am trying to bind a happymodel ep1 on my 5" build with a zorro tx. 

its my second go at this, managed to (i think) fry the rx with solder after losing laptop battery and having to solder it into bootloader mode to recover. this ep1 will now not communicate with configurator, giving serial errors. 

anyways, i ordered another ep1. i have soldered it to the FC. its soldered good. 
when i power quad, i can use power cycling to get ep1 into bind mode, light flashes twice, twice again etc. 
when i run lua on zorro and hit bind, nothing happens. am i just missing something? 

i have a phrase on the zorro from pairing with whoop previously. on the last ep1 i flashed with the phrase and latest firmware on first go at binding. this didnt work either, thought they were just meant to work if phrase was the same?

zorro is on 3.1.2
ep1 is fresh out of the packet. i can flash it, but after the last try, i'm reluctant to mess with it more than just making it work ATM. 

any assistance would be much appreciated... cheers

The EP1 might not be flashed with ELRSv3, so manual binding won't work if your TX is on ELRSv3. Follow the flashing guide to update your EP1 to ELRSv3, and you might as well set a binding phrase while you're at it.

i think that's next step, flashing the rx. does the regulatory framework need to be the same? is there a way to find out what its set to in the zorro?
first thin i did with the first ep1 was flash with latest fw and phrase.

errors were serial connection related, bad data? cant really remember now...

Yes, regulatory domain must be the same. If you load the ELRS lua on the Zorro and scroll to the bottom it will show you the ELRS Version and regulatory domain it is currently flashed with.

If you post a log from Configurator with the errors here or on the Discord I can help you out.

hi, sorry for slow reply, login issues.
to be honest, memory is a little hazy. think it was a lack of drivers on my laptop, but not 100% on this.

Make sure the ELRS Lua script on your transmitter is the same major version of what ELRS firmware is on your RX (is the published solution)

However...I've not had that be the case. I've had 3.1 receivers, 3.0 recievers, etc and they WILL NOT BIND to my 3.2 scripted transmitter. I have always had to flash to 3.2 in order to bind.

You also have to ensure you have the proper port switched on for serial. And the correct protocol in BF (CRSF). And make sure you R on your RX goes to the T on your FC.

Those are most of the issues with ELRS binding, that I've come across.

One day I'll look into this password binding, I hear it is super easy.
