H. Anyone know if the AXII 2 micro 20mm antenna can fit in the mob6 canopy like the truerc singularity 20mm?

Well it fits. A little squished. Hopefully doesn't cause any issues. LookLooks like a good alternative to the singularities tho.

You may want to check how good of a VTX signal you get when the quad has the right side facing you (the pilot position). That type of antenna has very little response off the top and bottom and you have the top facing sideways. A circular polarized antenna should typically be mounted with the top facing up and slightly angled to the rear of the quad. That way when the quad is tilted forward in flight, the antenna is sticking pretty much straight up as most of the signal is picked up on the side of it.

Good point. Do you know what it looks like when the singularity ultra short is tucked under the Mob6 canopy?

I've been hitting this really hard for several months, and it is holding up great:



'Tucking' is going to make a lot more static in general. Aaron Ciotti has done more research on these rigs than most, and he prefers his external as well (his advice inspired my entire build actually, and I have zero regrets it's my fav tai knee whoop). IIRC my singularity is a 35mm long version. It's the perfect length to get the bend in front just right with the can tight against the canopy.

aaron ciotti did more research than others with antenna mounting on whoops?

the mounting you did has no distance to other parts, all benefits by the circular polarized antenna might be destroyed by the low distance.

the weight in relation of a omni antenna is huge, mounted in the back does destroy balance and airflow, while it flies it decreases the performance dramatic.

a decent dipole or monopole is what i use on whoops

In going off of Ciottis advice as well. Keeping my dipole jist incase of course. The weight difference for the build using the 20mm CP instead of the dipole is about 0.75grams. With going down to the 0702 motors and biblade props I think I've net saved quite a bit more than 0.75grams so the weight isn't an issue.

But range benefit may be marginal because of where it's located. We shall see.

Gotcha. I thought Ciottis recommendation was to tuck the 20mm antenna under the canopy for the greatest weight savings and protection for antenna? I see you got the Meteor 65 frame too. I was going to switch over to that when my Mob6 frame breaks finally. Did you try the 30KV motors? How are they?

I opted for the 27KV and it's a bit of a struggle to maintain good control indoors without a motor limit. I lowered my camera angle quite a bit to tame it but altitude control has been a challenge.

I have a Mob7 and I left the stock antenna sticking out just like it came originally. I generally do not use a circular polarized antenna until I get to a 85mm quad and larger.
