Atmospheric Adventures Artemis 6 Build !PICS!
#1
This is my most recent build, and some thoughts/comments to go along with it.

Frame is the Artemis 6, I was looking for a mono plate x frame with 220mm spacing.  I'm currently on a 220mm kick right now, and this was exactly what I was looking for.

The frame comes in a sexy box, and comes with a nice amount of extra bits like a battery strap, xt60, o-rings, PDB, spare hardware, etc.  I like that.
There was a bit of a mix up with my order which caused it to be delayed, so I got some custom engraving Smile

Here's all the components, I'm stoked to try out the Furious mini rx, and the Cobra CP2205-2300's.  Other parts are Aikon 30a esc's, DTFC f3, TBS Triumph antenna, etc
[Image: IMG_7113_zpsqcpwivaq.jpg]

I got a total frame weight of 81.42g, I think that was without battery strap and motor mounting hardware but i forget.  The Carbon looks to be of good quality, edges had no roughness and were clean.  I spent a couple minutes wet sanding the edges of the carbon, just to round them off a bit, something one should do with every frame, imo.  The layout is pretty straightforward, It's an x after all, so there are only so many ways of putting it together.  I do like the camera mounting bracket, and the sma hole on the top plate has a recessed square to prevent the vtx from spinning around, which is also nice.

This was my second build using the DTFC, the integrated pdb is pretty sweet.  If you solder the wires at a bit of an angle, routing them becomes a little bit cleaner.  I do like how the Kombini has the recessed solder pads, it would probably be just a tiny bit cleaner than the doge, but this is what I had on hand.

I solder all the wires to the board first, then trim and solder to esc one by one.  You'll see why in a couple pics.

Before de-soldering all the wires from esc, I take a picture for reference
[Image: IMG_7116_zpskuhsatgi.jpg]

Then I mount the esc with double sided tape, and cut, strip, and tin the wires as I go.  Notice that the board is now flipped, so the solder pads on the FC are not accessible.  Yeah, I'm OCD like that...                             Plus, its Doge!

I figured out that It is a bit easier to solder the signal/ground wires first, then do the power wires with the esc taped in place.

Then I put the motors on, and trim the wires to proper length.

Before I solder on the motor leads, I put some double sided tape on the bottom of the heat shrink, and get that in place.

Next step is to plug her in and configure motor direction and board orientation, which in this case is 180* roll.  I like to run at 8khz, so I have to turn the Accelerometer off.  Double check board orientation before doing this! I had one quad bite me in the leg because I had the orientation mixed up.

Next is the Rx, I guess I'll put it... here (double sided tape again)

Then Vtx/camera, pretty straightforward.

Add a zip tie and the build is done.

Configure rx, telemetry, and rates.  At 8khz, stock betaflight pid settings seems to fly pretty solid actually.

Artemis, riding off into the sunset.

These two builds are within about 3 grams of each other, sitting just under 300g without battery.  I could shave a bit more weight here and there, but I'm happy with that for now.  I haven't flown Artemis as much, but these two frames are very similar.  I'm not sure which one I prefer at this moment, luckily for me I don't have to choose only one! Nice build, looks very clean with that integrated PDB FC!

I'd hide that RX antenna a bit more Smile
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car

I love that personal engraved name Smile you got a link where to get this frame?
Looks like you got the first batch of Aikon ESC just like me... where there are fewer filtering ESC... they fairly noisy and I often lose OSD text lol
