Arming iflight alpha a85 hd for the first time - HELP!
#1
Hi,

I just got my first FPV set. I have the iflight alpha a85 hd & DJI googles and controller. I was able to bind all 3 however I'm not able to arm or take off. I was in the impression that this drone in unbox and ready to flight. I have zero experience with this type of controller and or the drone. I was only flying DJI Air & Mini up until now.

I know it’s a stupid question, but can someone advise on how to get the drone up in the air.

Thanks a lot!

You need to configure one of the switches on the controller to activate the ARM mode of the quad in Betaflight Configurator. Have you done that? If not then have a read of the following guide...

No I haven't. I have downloaded Betaflight and will follow your link. Do I need to do all this settings and have the drone connected at the same time to my pc?

Also, I'm getting "low power mode unable to record videos" every time within seconds after battery is connected. Is this something to configure in betaflight as well?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Yes, you need to connect a USB cable between your computer and the flight controller and then run Betaflight Configurator and connect to the FC. Make sure you are using a data cable (not just a charging USB cable) and make sure you plug it into the micro USB socket on the bottom of the FC at the back and not the USB-C port of the Vista on the side. You likely already have an ARM mode already configured on that quad but it probably isn't configured on the right AUX channel. So you just need to rectify that.

Before you make any changes at all in Betaflight Configurator, connect to the FC, go to the CLI tab (the bottom most tab), and run the "diff all" command. Then save the output to a file somewhere safe on your computer. That will be the original factory supplied configuration that you can simply just restore if you manage to mess anything up. Whenever you make any configuration changes, get into the habit of always saving a "diff all" first so you can revert back to the previous settings if you ever need to.

You will get that message until you arm the quad (which you aren't able to do without the ARM mode configured on a switch). The Vista remains in low power mode while the quad is disarmed to prevent it from overheating while it's not flying. Once you arm the quad it will come out of low power mode and you will get an "Unlocked" message on the screen. You will then be able to record video.

Thank you SnowLeopardFPV. Everything seems to work and your link was super helpful! I also ended up buying a case with your Amazon link, thanks for that.
I know that my FPV drone in nature is for speed but was wondering if I can change the rating to slow it down although I still want the ability to roll and flip.
Any idea what will work if possible?  Thanks again

I’m looking for a case for my A85 as well. Can you share the link you are referring to?

Thanks
