Hey guys as you can guess it's about Tuning my quad.

I wanted to ask which method you guys find more successful?

Some people

- Take the standard PIDs and fiddle around until it matches
- Set their own basics and fiddle around from there
- Set I and D to Zero and use their P until it reaches a "tripple oscillation". Then the D until most oscillation is gone and then I until they have no more drifting after throttle punches

I for myself had help from several people who seem to messed everything up. Of course I know that the PIDs etc. are entirely a personal thing on how it feels to you.

I will try to tune my PIDs using the last method and like it's shown in stinger swarms video.

Another thing, I have the BlackBox feature, never used it before. Just watched some tutorials by Joshua Bardwell. Can I use it to optimize my Filters?  Should I still softmount my FC? Some people told me it doesn't really matter on an F3 while I for myself think that every sort of vibration should be reduced if possible. I think i gonna add some M3 O-Rings above and below the FC.

Is RC Expo obsolete? Only Super Expo useful now? Note that I didn't fly a quad before this was released so if the only reason to mess with RC Expo is "when u had it before you can still use it the same way" then it's obsolete for me.

I currently have really really really really really nervous shaky fingers so I definetly want to mess with those expo rates to get me more tolarence in center stick area

Regarding blackbox, you basically NEED it to adjust filters. In cli, set debug_mode to notch or gyro. This will give you gyro data before notch filters respectively before any filtering is applied.

Sorry my cellphone batt is dying, will write more later if necessary.

Awesome that is absolute crucial information to see the Gyro Data without any Filter applied. Ty this way I can exactly see what frequencies influence the quad and with what amplitude at which manouvers

That video from stinger is pretty good. I tried several methods before and that was the one I found to be the easiest and that gave me best results.

Edit: Concerning soft-mounting, lately I see a lot of people recommending these (never tried myself so I can't confirm): https://www.banggood.com/4-PCS-Realacc-M...35527.html

Ty for the feedback. Good to know

Yeah I heard about those soft mounts. But since they are from china they will take forever to be delivered. They will definetly go into my next order though.

For now i will put some O-Rings on the mounts

Regarding rc expo, yeah imho it's not really needed anymore - you can lower rc rate to get softer response around midstick. I did never really test it though, could be that expo is even smoother towards the very center.

And yes i would highly recommend softmounting. Less vibrations reaching the fc means less filtering needed, which can improve response a lot and decreases the risk of phase shifting effects.

I use silicone glow tube oring for softmount.
