I’m waiting on a XF nano and coming a state away should be here by Friday. • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 On the subject of ESC’s we need more ESC torture chamber tests: Reduce the volume because it gets really loud Posts: 6,105 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,283 in 1,830 posts Likes Given: 4,731 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 15-Jul-2021, 11:05 AM (This post was last modified: 15-Jul-2021, 11:08 AM by hugnosed_bat.) nice! never saw such tests. i would realy like to get more testing results, a source for escs like we have for motors with miniquadtestbench.com a watched the one with the tbs 25a esc and the spedix30a. both quality escs and does hold their promises, nice. the local vendor listed the 25a tbs escs as able to handle 6s (they was already years on the market, 6s came popular), i was close to try them just about sience xD as they was just 10$ a piece backthan, but i didnt. i would like to know what would happen on 6s torture test :-) it would be nice if the community have the force to do the declaration of abilities by themself, the manufacturers would do marketing with community proofed results. other numbers shouldnt count anything :-) i like to make a torture-bench by myself :-) testing all my 3in1 escs about the truth ability • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 Next ones DrainMan FPV has polled for are: - Hobbywing XRotor 4in1 ESC – 60A (34 votes) - Holybro Tekko32 F3 ESC (22 votes) - Flycolor Raptor 40A Slim (13 votes) He has the best eyebrows in the business and is a bit raw but he has an interesting topic he is covering here. Posts: 6,105 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,283 in 1,830 posts Likes Given: 4,731 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 xD impressive eyebrows xD speed up the video and add some music, he is dancing over the whole vid :-) nervous guy :-) the topic is nice, the hw 60a is very intressting :-) so i bet it can handle an 80a peak without burnout :-) but will he have the right motor for that, a hungry beast? wouldnt it be more accurate by another power supply than a lipo or is it even more practice focused? im unsure about • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 (15-Jul-2021, 01:07 PM)hugnosed_bat Wrote: xD impressive eyebrows xD speed up the video and add some music, he is dancing over the whole vid :-) nervous guy :-) the topic is nice, the hw 60a is very intressting :-) so i bet it can handle an 80a peak without burnout :-) but will he have the right motor for that, a hungry beast? wouldnt it be more accurate by another power supply than a lipo or is it even more practice focused? im unsure about He is probably preparing for the test since its been almost a month since he released the last video in this series. He does have a xclass hanging on the wall and so he probably has some big motors lying around. I want to actually see the that new iFlight 80a 8S 4in1 esc be tested cause its like $200 but probably the only one in such a class. • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 That’s the type of testing we need. I pushed my Apex hard as possible and I’m pulling about 100amps max. I’m using t-motor Pacers 2207 1750Kv and ethix 5” watermelon props. I think I could safely use HW 40amp 4n1 but I’d like to see it tortured. • Posts: 6,105 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,283 in 1,830 posts Likes Given: 4,731 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 100amps max mean an average of 25a per esc, this wont get it even warm :-) • Posts: 1,312 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 832 in 504 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Jul 2018 Reputation: 51 (15-Jul-2021, 11:05 AM)hugnosed_bat Wrote: nice! never saw such tests. i would realy like to get more testing results, a source for escs like we have for motors with miniquadtestbench.com That used to be Drone Mesh, but he's branched out a lot in the last couple of years. The guy's got to do his own thing, but it's a bit of a shame because his ESC reviews were awesome. The ground is for dead people. The ESC stuff was all sponsored by pcbway anyways, and he was simply copying stuff from RCGroups and Github. I liked him though, initially, because he actually had some really good perspectives in FPV. • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 I decided to try a HW F7 instead of a radix 2. Got my nano receiver soldered in and tested in betaflight. Next is FPV system and then mounting antennas will have it ready for maiden flight. I ran wires through the 20 by 20 holes and I may put a dab of silicone or grommet to protect wires from the sharp edges. I’ll likely just 3M the receiver to mid section, then cap on top of vtx, and then mounting antennas I will think about. • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 18-Jul-2021, 01:24 AM (This post was last modified: 18-Jul-2021, 01:27 AM by Rob3ddd.) Finally got all the soldering done and everything tested good and working. I have to get everything secured, mounted and set up in betaflight but the soldering work is done. Awesome. I had the same satisfying feeling yesterday. I run a mad scientist lab in my living room when building stuff and have to finish anything I start on the same day because I do not have the luxury of leaving projects on the bend anymore • Posts: 1,843 Threads: 203 Likes Received: 346 in 264 posts Likes Given: 306 Joined: May 2020 Reputation: 11 18-Jul-2021, 04:08 PM (This post was last modified: 18-Jul-2021, 05:17 PM by Rob3ddd.) I tried using a diatone noise ground isolation board but the stack would be too high or the board hits motor pads. • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 19-Jul-2021, 12:39 AM (This post was last modified: 19-Jul-2021, 12:42 AM by kafie1980.) There have been mixed opinions about the noise isolation boards and copper shielding tape. I have used copper shielding tape a few times on an ESC and a vtx but I can't say for sure if it did much (without grounding it probably why it never made much difference). If you still want to mount it then you can cover the bottom face with electrical tape to avoid any contact with the motor pads. This is what I do not like about short stack heights because its hard to keep components apart to avoid noise in the system. • |
