AnyFC F7 (p)review
#1
First of all i would like to thanks Sandra and Banggood to make it possible to review this FC.

The link to the product: https://goo.gl/KZWjtn

This is just the first part of the review, the second part will come when i build it on the quad.
Just for the idea, it will be tested on a 600 mm quadcopter with GPS.

I was a bit struggling to get everything working correctly on my RMRC Dodo (also a great FC), first i had SBUS and smart port working on the FC and that was working very good until i added a GPS, the soft serial wasn't working with iNAV so i got stuck. Now i have the opportunity to test a F7 FC i don't have to concern about if i have enough UART's.

I think the main goal for this board will be the larger drones with GPS and that kind of extra's this because of the dedicated UART's the change that it works good is big.

The specifications:
STM32F745VGT6 100lqfp 216MHz
MPU6000 SPI
All 8 uarts available + VCP
10 pwm outputs + 6 inputs
external I2C
external SPI (shared with U4/5)
support for CAN
SD card logging (SPI)
3 AD channels, one with 10k/1k divider, two with 1k series resistor
with a 36x36mm Layout and 30.5x30.5mm Hole Setup
Weight 7.4g

No baro sensor!

The information about the output pins can be find here: https://github.com/betaflight/betaflight/wiki/Board---ANYFCF7#output-pinout

But first some picture's of the FC:

What i noticed is that there is a small solder joint on the F7 controller, i checked it in the datasheet of the controller and it's correct, it's the connection between the reference point of the controller and the power supply of the board so don't worry about that.

I will do a side by side comparison with my first board, this is the RMRC Dodo, I like this board very much so it's nice to do a compare with it.

The AnyFC is an F7 flight controller so it has 8 uart connections, this gives you a lot of possibilities to connect all your favorite parts with it like serial RX, OSD, Telemetry, Blackbox and GPS. Therefor the RMRC Dodo is a F3 flight controller and has only 3 uart connections and where already one is in use by the USB connection so you have to make some good decisions which parts you are going to connect to your hardware uart's and if you need some more you can enable two more software uart's, but this will consume some calculation power from the flight controller.

Pro's about the AnyFC:
  • 8 uart's, you can't run out of hardware uart's
  • On board SD card slot for BlackBox logging
  • JST connectors, you must like this but it gives you on a small footprint a lot of connections.
  • Led strip support
Con's about the Any FC
  • Barometer missing
  • Buzzer output missing
  • Documentation is still hard to find
  • No logic motor connections

Pro's about the RMRC Dodo
  • 2-6S lipo direct input to power the flight controller and it has an onboard 5V BEC with an 1A output (rev 3b version)
  • Barometer included
  • Buzzer connections available
  • Easy motor connection output
  • Led strip support
  • Through hole connections (I like this more then the JST connectors)
  • So serious wow !!!
Con's about the RMRC Dodo
  • Missing just one or two hardware uart's (This would make the flight controller great for non FPV/racing drones)
  • SD card support (Not really a con but more a nice to have feature)

I think that the AnyFC is a bit to early released on the market, if they spend a bit more time on it, it would be a great board.
I wouldn't recommended this board I think the Realacc F7 is a better board and the Nero F7 looks just awesome, but I don't have the boards so I can't compare them to each other.

Great Smile I'd love to see more, and how you can use all UART's Smile

On the topic of buzzer and INAV: next INAV release will support buzzer (with small mosfet driver) on motor 9 PWM output
