Another vacation thread :)
#1
After seeing DOP's vacation thread I thought I would post some photos of our recent trip to Colorado.
My wifes sister rented a ski lodge in a town called Fairplay. She rented it for 2 months and is having a different family in each week, kind of a family reunion for her 1 week at a time. My wife is #9 of 10 kids. This was my first experience with "elevation" or more to the point "thin air "
We flew into Denver ( 5000 ft ) and drove up to Fairplay ( 12,500 ft ) This was our base camp for a week.
This is a picture from inside the lodge , daughter , son in law and myself

one day we went to Breckenridge and stopped at the "Continental Divide"  My sweetie and I

We drove back towards Denver and stopped in Colorado Springs for a day and did Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods

Kind of hard to breath up here Sad

There were several signs in several places about "Absolutley no Drones Allowed" and yet this yahoo base jumps from 14,000 feet Cry

You can see 5 states from up here.

And the "Balancing Rock" in the garden of the Gods.

An absolutely beautiful part of the country ! Really glad we went. Big Grin

Great pics, Scott.....too bad you didn't get to fly there....I wonder how the elevation would affect the performance of a quad?  I'm guessing not a lot, but likely noticeable.

Do you know if that paraglider registered with the FAA, has his registration number written on the glider and have to stay below 500 ft?

Nice trip.

Nice trip.

500 ?  more like 7-8000 above where we entered the park. The summit was under construction so we could only drive 17 of the 19 mile trip to the top and had to take a shuttle the last 2 because there is no parking up there right now. This means that guy had to take the bus up. I had even asked our driver if anybody ever base jumped up there he said "It was strictly forbidden" and against the law !
So how he got all his gear up there and all together and jump without any body stopping him....I have no clue
