Great, I didn't know that, so it's fair. I did some app for setting some FC (for heli), and now I am on other way, as customer. Nice change . I know how much time you spent with app. • Posts: 29 Threads: 2 Likes Received: 23 in 12 posts Likes Given: 2 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 2 15-Sep-2017, 05:03 PM (This post was last modified: 15-Sep-2017, 05:04 PM by PViegas.) Hi error414(and other forum members that read my last reply) I apologize for my last post that was a bit harsh, yesterday was not one of my best days (the hell got loose around here), and so I’ll try to explain this in a more technical way. Android OS is as you know property of Google, so is Play Store and in order to constrain they product they (Google) don’t give us (Indie developers) an easy way to protect our work, meaning that if you need to manage licensing of distributed Apps you can only do it by having them on PlayStore. That’s the user model of registration, which is based on the Users’s Device Google Account, meaning that “the user is registered with the device”, so does the Apps Unfortunately there’s no way of doing this kind of authentication outside the GooglePlayStore in order to unquestionably verify that one certain device only belongs to one user. … unless (this is the bad news) the App gets granted device account access ( https://support.google.com/accounts/answ...6521?hl=en) Now, being this an of Google PS App, it might be strange for some users to have an App requesting this permission, and some users (if not many) don’t quite understand what this permission is used for, just the name of it may scare a lot of users (as it does to me). So, I can only rely on internal device info (don’t need special permissions to get than) to effectively register the App, this way I’m not interfering with the privacy of the user account data, but the thing is that the App must be “locked” to the device. Thus said, I’m not saying that your suggestion is not right (by contrary), if I could figure out a way to avoid abusive App distribution I would do that, as that would also take off some overload from managing user licensing, in fact the device model registration got me extra work in developing the backend to manage that. Modesty speaking I find myself a nice person, I started this App as a fun thing to do and as a nice tool to have around in the field to tune the quad (it ended up as a quite extensive tool ). I also wanted to make this available to everyone at a very low price tag (couldn’t do that on PS, as in the end I would have to pay to have it there, believe me) and this is something that I do for fun, not to live from it. I hope you all can understand my line of thinking, in the end I had no other choice. … now, and just for more fun, I've made another App . I’ve created the first and only Betaflight BlackBox Viewer for Android, check this post here : https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost...stcount=81 PS. Thanks Carl.Vegas for your PM. Sometimes when you're just a one-man show there are limitations on what can be done and what should be done. I think in this case he's prioritized solving getting rapid updates out over a licensing structure that we might be more familiar with in the mobile device space. Great work and I hope to be a customer soon and greatly appreciate what he's doing for our community! carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 1 Threads: 0 Likes Received: 1 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Sep 2017 Reputation: 0 24-Sep-2017, 03:24 PM (This post was last modified: 24-Aug-2021, 02:47 PM by Lentiso.) I downloaded this to my Asus tablet to try. Is there something special about the OTG adapter I need to look for or is it pretty generic? • |
