Anyone who knows me, knows I'm no fan of DJI.  I believe they are the fox in the chicken coup for this hobby, doing lots of damage by being a driving force for more negative legislation.

Well, a guy had a complete HD set for sale for about 1/2 price on one of the FB pages I go to.  It even had the VAS Cyclops antenna, etc. (ugly but effective).  I started to rationalize that I wasn't patronizing DJI as they still weren't getting any money from me by buying used.  But in the end, I decided to not do it, mostly because there is no GPS yet for this system, and who knows they may never have a firmware change to incorporate it.  And GPS is a must have for me.  My luck the firmware update will happen next week....

Part of the reason this even came up is because I think I blew out one side of my diversity circuitry on my goggles.  I think it happened when I disconnected the battery from the goggles without first turning the goggles off.  I discovered this the other day when doing a short intro flight for some old codgers I get together with for drinks and a cigar once a month.  I haven't been able to get out to troubleshoot more, but I'm thinking I will be buying new goggles soon. 

Oh well, time to get ready for Christmas Day festivities.

I was adamantly against DJI entering FPV because I thought they would pull a classic DJI and fence everyone in. They love their fences, that DJI. But with the news of Caddx's DJI vtx and other manufacturers likely to follow suit, I'm not so sure that's the case anymore. I'd even go so far to say that had I not already invested in Byte Frost, I would most likely be flying DJI right now. I'll even go further to say that if I were able to go back in time with current knowledge, I am 95% sure that I would have just gone with DJI.

Yep I caved and bought it a few weeks ago - I have no complaints so far although I need that home arrow OSD support to fully move everything over.

It isn't a perfect system but this new smaller caddx vtx and the software updates are improving things. That picture quality though is unreal though. Really changes the way it feels to fly (for me at least) and also I feel very confident flying - it seems to have less overall range than some good analog systems but also less seemingly random interference - I no longer feel the need to slowly fly around and scout spots before hitting them so much.

Can't wait to see your footage. You are in like Thailand or something right? Crazy scenery!
