I'd like to understand  what it really is and the beneffits using it...

I used Acro+ on OpenPilot and it should be something similar on Race/Betaflight.
I will test it as soon as the weather is good enough to fly and i don't have to work when it's still bright outside.

The feature adds some "manual input" to the mix. So when you roll at max Stick let's say 720°/s your quad will accelerate to that point and keep on turning with that rate.
When you add Arco+ the motors will additionally see some percentage of manual input (like 10% power to the left motors in case of a right roll).
This will increase your roll/pitch rates!
TL;DR
Add some manual output to the "PID-driven" one to have higher rates.
A bit like expo.

In Openpilot it activated only after a certain stick deflection. So you could basically fly low rates (360°/s), but when you pushed the Stick all the way it still turned with 1000°/s and more.
