A ghost pilot in my city.
#1
Yesterday I was out in the yard trying to decide what to do with a tree when I heard a familiar song in the distance, but getting closer.  It was the song of quadcopter rotors.  It finally came into view about 300 yards away, and flew right over me about 75 feet off the deck.  I waived, and he/she did a couple flips and then continued on.  The pilot flew on for well over a 1/2 mile until I saw it make a 90* turn to the left and shortly after the turn I lost sight of it.

What is odd about this is the quad was a racing quad, not a DJI rendition.  There are a couple of Phantoms, and a Mavic Pro (although he broke his after doing what I suggested not to do, another story) in town, but I have never seen a racing quad, and no one does distance FPV in the area.  Must be a new kid in town, or a visitor.

This pilot can fly, although his judgement is in question flying LR in a residential area.  Hoping he/she doesn't screw things up for me by doing something stupid and getting people or property hurt.

For some reason while reading your post I heard "Ghost riders in the sky" in my head.

Long range through a residential area is poor judgment and flying that close to the ground makes it easier for the "haters" to complain.
I hope he doesn't ruin it for you.

The first one I heard was the Outlaws version. But I prefer the way Johnny Cash does it.

Sounds like you should have The Nasty ready for quick deployment in case it comes back.  Let them see what they could be...when they grow up! Big Grin

I hope they do not make a mess of things as well.
