A blast from the past . . . Santa's in town . . . and brought SILVERWARE!!
#1
I started really getting into flying and got started FPV flying with my Whoops. They were all brushed, and starting out were all 65s. My B03s & my Beecore/Silverware Whoops were my main FPV setups and with their 716 motors, could still Whoop around with the weight of the cam/canopy on them. Most of the brushed Whoops out had the smaller 615 motors, which made them kinda anemic with the extra weight to FPV. Around Christmas back then, Eachine & JJRC, & I think JJRC made both, just rebranded them for Eachine, the Santa Whoops. They had the bigger 716 motors with plugs, on Bayang protocol, and had a Lego Santa riding on top, and an obnoxious midi playing Christmas carols. But . . . with those 716s, they could handle the FPV setup just like the Boldclash.

I picked up a couple of the red and white versions a while ago, but found them again on EBay from the same seller the other day, and still at a reasonable price.

Here's the link to the Santa Whoops, and they're really at a decent price. I was thinking about getting another one of each and turning them into a couple more brushed FPV 65s, and keep my others NIB.

For kicks, I also found, actually a few people, selling the JJRC H36 with those little 615 motors NIB reasonably cheap too. I did pick one up for my night time LOS Whoop Group to hang with the rest of the brushed LOS 65s. That guy is the cheapest, counting shipping.

Where on earth have they been hiding? Got to be old stock.

I have ten E011, the "Hero" figure Blue/White and the "Baddie" figure Black/Red, and two Santa ones with tunes unit removed, all with FPV, most with a Tiny6 camera "spare" in the duct fork and an Eachine VTX01 flat over the FC board, 3D printed canopy.

AFAIK, Bayang made the E011 (with 7mm motors) and a four letter company (WXJT or similar) made the E010 (re/green) / JJRC H36 (Blue/Silver Grey/Cheerson (orange, I forget code!)

For info there are at least six differing Tx/Rx board variants for the E010, some not compatible across variant!

I have over several years converted or aided schoolboys to convert over 100 E010/JJRC H36 as Racing Hovercraft.

i wouldnt go for a used brushed quad, the motors have its livetime.
i did make my old brushed whoop ready yesterday and flew it. what a fun :-)

you doesnt own a brushless model? maybe save the money for a brushless whoop?

i will get a set of newbeedrone brushed motors, maybe two different sets.
rotors, batteries and motors - the best i can find for full flight pleasure. you might enjoy some good parts more than another used one :-)

Err, the link is to new unused.

No, they are not brushless, with power to spare, but you need to take into consideration that these are complete with hand controller, and you can have three of these flying for the price of one brushless without any controller(s).

The ones I have have all been reliable, despite 12-16 years olds weekly brutality sessions!

i had a few of them, known how to mod these controllers :-) with real gimbal stickends :-)

they are unbeatable about the price, but there is more :-) just a bit more about handling and pleasure from a true transmitter like a jumper t-lite and some decent batteries and motors - just liked to point on the more of handling pleasure ;-)

Haha, of course it's old stock . . . it's an old quad  . . . 8^}
But that's OK, I just found out I'm old too . . .

That seemed about right, I read an old review on the Lego Whoops, and the Santas from JJRC & Eachine, at least in name, came out in 2017. I'd originally got the red Santa, and later that year, picked up a Blue Knight with the white frame. I still fly those originals in my Nighttime LOS Whoop Group . . . minus the Legos. Along with my B03 I put their cam/vTx/canopy setup on, I made another 65 originally with the Boldclash 716 motors but used a Beecore/Silverware board. I made pairs in 75 & 85 with the B03 & BS boards, KK Tiny frames, KK 820s & 8520s, with their canopies & put on a cam/vTx for FPV. The Silverware board Whoops out performed, out flew, out handled, and stayed in the air about another 1/2 minute over the B03 Whoops . . . and the B03s were/are really great brushed Whoops . . . just that Silverware gives it a whole better/smoother feel, and seems to give me even better control . . . and again, the B03s fly great. I still have all of them, and do feed them some batts, especially over Summer.

With the little 615 Whoops, the first two I got were the JJRC H36 & the little FuriBee. The E010 was the main other little LOS Whoop that I remember, and a few others that were either over priced from a couple companies or cutting under the price on some rebranded models of the JJRC & FuriBee. The B03s, Inductrix & I forget the other brand were the next level up with their 716 motors, then KK came out with their X series Tiny Whoops & bumped their motor sizes up, 716s on the 65, 820s on the 75 & the 8520s on the 85x.

I fly all my Bayang brushed Whoops with the B03 & BS boards & the Santa & Blue Knight boards with my Jumper T8. It just gives me the very basics, the stick controls & the gyro & accelerometer calibration, and that's about it. The Silverware also has a number of things you can change & tweak, including the PIDs with different stick gestures. They bind up each time, just like the toy radios, and start out on full power vs the two speed control on the toy radio. They do have good range for a little brushed Whoop, and I haven't had any dropouts going out a solid 300'.

I still fly my 65 brushed Whoopin through the house along with their new brushless kid brothers, and they're still a lot of fun.

These are definitely new in box Santas . . . gawd, hope no little kid reads that . . . 8^}

I guess I got nostalgic, and was messin' with a bunch of my old brushed quads & Whoops, and just started looking around to see if I could still find a few old brushed that were special to me, or one of a kind, like the Santas, brushed quads,

Yea, I have one or two brushless, an M6 & my M6 with an iFlight board, my original Mobula, Mobula clone, my 1S Mobula 75 with 802/19s, my 1S Mobula with 703/19s, about 6 85s, with a couple more to build & a couple 95s with another or two of those to build, a 2 1/2" Pick, a 3" Pick, and my GEP Dolphin Whoop, and apologies to any of the little people I forgot . . .

Before you get the NewBee motors, check out TinyWhoop. I just got a new set of Boss Sauce brushed 716s for my Beecore/Silverware 65, and those are suppose to be like the Boldclash "Hot" motors, which I switched to on my B03. They have the 716s & the 615s in a bunch of different kvs/rpms, and also some crazy fast 802 brushless motors too.

Here's a real tiny blast from the past . . . I bought one way back, bought another couple from CycloneFPV a couple years ago & found some more . . . of the  super tiny Eachine E012 !! The listing says there's just 2 left . . . after I bought another one . . .

Got my red & white Santas Monday with the mail, and also got the tiny E012 I ordered too. That's the super tiny Eachine Whoop with the battery with reverse polarity. Just another LOS version, I haven't been able to find the version with the wifi FPV cam, and I'd really like to find/get a couple of those.

Even better than the Santas, I was looking around on Ali Exp and I found . . . the brushed Beecore Lite Silverware board !!!!! I've been looking for these for a few years . . .

These are the better of the two brushed Silverware boards that came out then, the Beta was the other, and the B/S  board I used for my other 1/2 of my brushed Whoops with the B03 board. It's Bayang protocol, like the B03 & the Santas & Knights. I get very solid 100 yard range flying around my neighborhood, and with the Silverware, as good as the B03s fly, it's even better. The Silverware will let you switch to Acro with your little brushed Whoops, and you can even tune your PIDs with the stick gestures. Nigel had said the electronics on the board were very good when they came out & he reviewed them.

All my Beecore/Silverware Whoops in all three sizes were faster, the Silverware handles so smooth and locked in, I just expect to be able to pull off any crazy ash stunt, and even better than the B03, and all three sizes would get another 30 seconds or more airtime than the B03s, and those B03 65s get 5+ minute FPV flights on 350 batts. When I nail the throttle, I can see the Beecore Whoop has a much harsher angle/steeper forward pitch than the Santas or the B03, which probably gives it it's better speed.

I have two new BS boards left & a couple I've used before, but I still ordered two of them. They were $20 a pop, but with free shipping . . . and still over twice what I bought them for the last time I bought them.

If you still play with your brushed Whoops, but never tried Silverware, these are a great way to do it, and you don't have to worry about the little pins & flashing the board to get the Silverware, and you get a good quality board too.

I also found another brushed Silverware board, the AlienWhoop ZER0 and it does 1 & 2S, but no receiver. It can run the new ELRS, and Frsky(sbus) & DSM, but you have to let them know which you want so they give you the board set up for it. The tiny Newbee Beeceivers would be great for the 65s and only add about a gram weight to it. I've never tried one, but ordered one to try. For $15.50 shipped, why not. I've seen 1 & 2S 8520 brushed motors for years, and cheap, and want to make a 2S brushed 85 Whoop to go along with my 1S and compare the two. That's a reasonable scientific experiment, and a great reason to make another Whoop. And everybody knows nobody can possibly have too many Whoops.

In a recent post another member asked about adding an FPV cam to a toy drone and this brought me back to this thread (thanks @Brian). Its been several decades since I setup a brushed drone (ok that is in quad time, but still its been many years). Well Christmas is coming so what better way than to add some electronic holiday music to your drones Big Grin

Roughly for the price of a motor, you can get a RTF 65mm whoop, of course brushed and toy grade. I ordered a pair from the link and it arrived in 2 days (not for me of course, maybe some young kid will enjoy it - wink wink). It is pretty old stock, so the lipo had drained out, and even after recharging it doesn't have enough oomph to lift the quad for more than a few seconds. It can however blast the "lovely" Christmas medley as soon as you plug it in (yes its ridiculously loud for such a tiny thing). It uses a standard PH2.0 connection so it works fine with normal whoop batteries. It will also bind with any 4-in-1 radio so you are not limited to the toy controller.

The essential parts.

The fluff (what a huge speaker, its around 3g)

Not the lightest AIO VTX, but an old one I have laying around

For flashing the acro firmware, you need to connect to 3 pads on the board. They are 1.25mm spaced, so perfect for a PH1.25 connector such as a whoop motor plug. Can probably just hold it down during flashing, no need to solder. Unfortunately I seem to have misplaced my $2 ST-Link programmer...
Here is a NFE Silverware branch with a ready compiled hex specifically for this drone along with detailed flashing instructions

Haven't seen Brian on the forums for quite some time. Hopefully he is still enjoying his whoops and will pop back on.

I was not able to find my ST-Link, and ended up getting a new one from Amazon... it is a little sad that it was so much easier for me to do that than to search through my junk... I really need to tidy up my mess,,,

Unfortunately I was not able to connect to the FC. Kept getting connection error in Stm link. I read the SWDIO and SCLK pins were mislabelled on the E011 board, not sure if it is the same for the H67 board so I tried swapping the connection, but that didn't work either. I am not sure if my newly acquired ST-Link is faulty or some other issue. Anyone flash one lately or have any ideas?

Yeah whatever happened to Brian. He seemed to fall off the grid about six months back. Hopefully he makes it back here at some point. Was a cool guy and knowledgable, if not a bit eccentric at times. Tongue

Santa may not be very happy as he's been asked to step off the whoop to make room for the FPV camera. The weight comes in at 26g, that does seem a little heavy for a brushed 65 whoop, but it still has enough power/control for zipping around indoors and flying through everything. Flown with a Jumper T-lite.

I wasn't able to flash the acro firmware, but maybe this will get some new/young pilot racing quickly. Still fun to fly in angle, no arm/disarm to think about, just throttle and go. Also shuffles along the ground nicely. I do miss turtle mode though.

The VTX is simply double-side taped to the bottom of the FC and slots in nicely. On the second one it is mounted in a TPU tray above the FC.
One of the motors was slow to spin up, that drone does have less performance overall... guess that could be the handicap drone.

My remaining Legacy E011's  I have another "Santa" one "somewhere" and a "baddie" (black frame, red rest) that I have just robbed the camera/vtx from.

These are 27.3g without cell and fly fine.
