A $180 Budget Build
#1
I built this cheap mini quad because I wanted to see the difference between an expensive one and a cheap one.
Detail build log for beginners:

Parts list:

Martian II Anni. Edition ($20)
Omnibus F4 AIO ($25)

RacerStar RS30A V2 ($52)

RacerStar BR2306 2400KV ($36)

Kingkong 5040×3 ($1)

Frsky XSR ($17)

HS1177 ($20)

Eachine VTX03 ($10)

XT60 Pigtail ($1.5)

Buzzer ($0.4)

Low ESC Capacitor ($1.5)

And I do think it's not wrong spending more money buying premium part, because most of the times, they do perform better. Smile
But even cheap builds like this one can fly pretty nice, I think beginners are better off learning from a cheap quad like this and gradually upgrade to better parts. Even if you break something it wont stink so much.

The Martian II frame is just as tough as everyone says it is, definitely worth it.

As for the Racerstar gear, I can't say they are good components, I had to lower P gain quite a bit to get the quad to stop oscillating, but you get what you pay for I guess. Anyway these are great options for beginners to trash around without worrying.

Here is the GoPro footage:

Also I found a good example of how a capacitor can clean up your FPV video during building the quad:

I will build one for me. Nowadays I have a shuriken X1 but I would like a Racer with this format. I will change some parts, but the motor will be the same.
