5V vs RAM port clarification
#1
I got a VTX recently to replace one on my prebuilt quad that broke in a crash. I think i know the mistake I made but am not sure and could use some clarification to maybe prevent others from making the same mistake. I connected a 5V pin to the one labeled RAM in the wiring diagram of my Omnibus F4 V3. From researching, it turns out that port has the two options dictated by bridging either the 5V or Vbat depending on the preference.

Of course i didn't realize this or notice said bridge was already soldered to "VBAT" until after I instantly fried my VTX upon attempting to connect the 5V wire.

Just to clarify before i throw away another 20 bucks, connecting the "7-24V" wire instead of the 5V will not cause my room to smell like burnt electronics?

The 5v on vtx is 5V out use for connecting to the camera.

Take DMM and check for continuity between ground and 7-24V. If you have continuity, then your VTX is fired. If no continuity, then it is worth trying to connect. I would not go through the FC. Connect straight to lipo. If your VTX seem fine, then you likely just smoke the 5v regulator. Remember to put on antenna when you power up the VTX.
