4in1 ESC broken coonnector
#1
Hi,
I use on one of my build this 4in1 ESC : Racerstar RS20Ax4 V2 20A BB2 48MHz Blheli_S 2-4S 4 in 1
When I have tried to add a printed canopy on my quad, I have broken the white connector where the signal wires are connected.
It's seems that the connector pins had not soldered to the board because the pins seems to be intact.

I want to know if anyne had this problem before and how I can put it on the board?
Do I have to solder the six little pins from the connector to the board?

I can add photos later when I will return home.
Thanks a lot for your help!

I hope you have a fine soldering tip and are confident enough to either resolder this socket or add some tiny wires to it. You can do it with a regular pointy tip but it will require a bit more space.

Use flux before applying a bit of solder to tin the pads. If you use too much solder and it sticks between the pads, apply more flux and wipe it with your hot iron. Repeat until you get nice shiny, relatively flat blobs. Use a bit more flux on the pads, lay down your socket on and line up the pins - apply heat until all pins flow into the solder. Only thing left is to solder tabs on both sides of the socket (EDIT: or you may actually start with that, the socket will be held firmly in place while you work on the pins, decide yourself, I usually remove sockets instead of soldering them back in Smile ).
This may be a bit tricky as the socket will start melting down if you apply too much heat, but remember that it is usually better to use more heat and work quickly then use low temp iron and hold it too long on the component. Give it some time to cool down if you feel everything starts to get too hot.

Good video illustrating the swipe technique is here:

You can also just solder some tiny wires like I did here:

In my opinion it is easier since you have more physical space to work with.

Good luck Smile

Thank you so much for your help KonradS!
I bought a small tip for my iron soldering tool and I was able to solder the connector pins back on the board.
Until now I flew some batteries and no problem, everything woks fine.
