3D print softmounts
#1
Has anyone had any luck with 3d printed flight controller softmounts?

I have read quite a few positive reports about printed motor mounts...

I was considering designing something that I could mold with silicon since it's softer than the 3d printed flexible filaments...

I designed this soft mount based on FPV Kabab's design. I didn't like the push button stuff on his design and couldn't get it to fit properly when printing myself, so I chanced the design to holes for nylon bolt and nut on both sides

BTW, I would assume that it gets too soft and flimsy if it was made out of silicone.

Also, I really can't say if this soft mount works good or not as I have only tested it on my racing quad with stock betaflight. It is flying good, but suffers from some prop wash that needs to be tuned.

Maybe one day I'll do a blackbox comparison between hard mounted, silicone o ring mounted, RF gummy mounted and my soft mount. But that's a project for another day Smile

Based on my gut feeling, I would think that the raceflight gummies does the best job of dampening an still maintain the rigidity between the quad and the board

This looks pretty promising, thank! I think that I will try it out in PET-G.

I wasn't planning on molding something like this, more something like the gummies. I am waiting for my FC to be delivered, if there is space to drill the holes out a little, I will consider these gumies.

I've been using theses soft mount standoffs from RMRC with excellent results. I believe they're also available from Banggood
