Rusty finally goes FPV! (DVR coming soon ) (some quick LOS clips from last summer) UPDATE: cockpit DVR added to reply#5 (thanks for the motivation fftunes) Notice my sexy lipo strap! First runs were increadable! No top speed runs yet, but tested the mount over different terrains. Performed very well over bumby, packed clay/dirt, tall grass, uneven sidewalks (for hard, sharp impacts @ 25-35mph) and smooth pavement (for high speed cornering) Zero excess vibrations, video feed is smooth! Especially while airborne I had one rollover leaving Rusty wheels up with zero antenna damage (so far ) Equipped is the AIO Eachine TX03, (which I have thoroughly enjoyed so far ) the 120° FOV handles the wheelies well. (A bit wider angle would be perfect ) Managed to make the camera mount using a piece of the original packaging foam and some 13mm thick foam sheeting. Hot glued everything together leaving a small gap behind original (white) foam for the 1s 650mAh lipo. I left the back slightly taller than the sides so the rubber band keeps lipo nice and cozy Added some Duct Tape for extra strength and durability to finish Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 Nice! But you can't mount the body like this, can you? Me thinking a "real" cockpit view would be awesome... • Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 • Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 Fun... Old body has a purpose again! Cut out some easy reliefs. Cut out the windshield Rubberband holds it in place. Fits great! Almost too easy with the mount made for the cam Some video testing it out. I can see how you might benefit from a spotter considering cars coming and going on the street... I'd be paranoid... but chasing them down after looked like lots of fun! carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 (06-Apr-2017, 02:17 AM)Carl.Vegas Wrote: Nice! Chase down those speeders and get their #s Thanks guys! Yes I got nervous too. First half is fpv (stick to mostly sidewalks. Then I go LOS and record DVR just to be safe Once the weather gets better Ill take it out for some high speed runs at a suitable spot. Our park has some great curving paths, nice and wide too • Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 3,288 Threads: 129 Likes Received: 2,740 in 1,644 posts Likes Given: 2,969 Joined: Apr 2017 Reputation: 65 OMG, that camera mount is adorable! It turns sharp! Low. Ride. Errrr. Much, much time has been spent tuning and fine tuning the suspension. Toe, camber, front caster, shock angles and spring rates, dampening and sag. Also every moving component in my suspension has been shaved sanded or adjusted to have zero restriction, drag or binds coming from the hinge points. After that it's just time learning to handle the little beast. • Posts: 6,092 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,283 in 1,830 posts Likes Given: 4,721 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 27-Mar-2019, 06:19 AM (This post was last modified: 27-Mar-2019, 06:23 AM by hugnosed_bat.) very nice i use skyrc gc301 for my fpvcar, like it alot. its well adjustable... with the overpowered castle-rustler probably the skyrc gyro https://www.skyrc.com/Accessory/GC301_Gyro will make highspeed handy • Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 (27-Mar-2019, 06:19 AM)hugnosed_bat Wrote: very nice i use skyrc gc301 for my fpvcar, like it alot. its well adjustable... with the overpowered castle-rustler probably the skyrc gyro https://www.skyrc.com/Accessory/GC301_Gyro will make highspeed handy Yeah, I have thought about putting a gyro on it but for me it takes away from the challenge of driving such a fast and powerful 2wd truck. Maybe I am just "old school" lol • |
