Bluejay not working on G-H-30 ESCs, but it SHOULD
Posted by: Helmut585 - 28-Jan-2023, 12:17 PM - Forum: BLHeli_S & BLHeli_32 - Replies (6)

Hi,

I have a Flywoo Explorer that I use to get video footage. Unfortunately, it flies kind of bumpy and not as long as other people report it to. I got to know that other people got their Explorer shipped with Bluejay ESC firmware and it flies even better when on 95PWM, according to them. Here is a source video. They have the DJI O3 version, but the same ESC (I checked). I have the analog version. I can flash Bluejay to my ESC that otherwise runs BLHeli_S, so it would be nice to have RPM filtering.

However, when I flash Bluejay, I do not get the last ESC beeps and the quad will not arm. Not on 24, 48 or 96 PWM, also not when turning up the starting power in Bluejay. I even got a screenshot from the guys ESC configuration and applied the same (standard) settings,but it doesn't work. Is there perhaps something in Betaflight I have to change? Can you guys think of another reason why Bluejay does not work for me?

I tried to solve this for over a week now and am kind of deperate. Any advice is highly appreciated. ?

  Issues Installing ELRS Reciever
Posted by: NyxOTNC - 28-Jan-2023, 07:52 AM - Forum: Beginner Questions - Replies (13)

Hello everyone,

I am newer to the world of FPV and have recently purchased my first non-commercial FPV drone, a Venom H20 HD from Flywoo. Now for various reasons I ended up with a version that did not ship with a reciever (I had a deal for a v1 DJI controller but it fell through) and have decided to add my own ELRS reciever, so I purchased a Radiomaster RP1 and a matching Zorro TX, which I am very happy with.

I have sucessfully soldered the reciever to the existing reciever wiring on the drone (I had it checked by an actual avionics specialist) and the reciever works. I've flashed the latest ELRS firmware onto both the TX and the RX and installed the necessary .lua scripts on the TX as well, and they pair up right away with eachother. The problem is the TX is not being recognized by the drone in Betaflight, so I'm going to assume that the RX and the FC are not communicating with eachother properly. The FC is a Goku Hex F411 and as such I checked the box in the ELRS configurator to invert the CRSF signal to allow it to communicate with the SBUS only FC, and also verified that the UART which is set to serial in BetaFlight matches the physical one on the FC.

The problem I'm having is that I don't know if Flywoo did anything during the setup of this drone (because even though they ship a version with a CRSF reciever, this one was intended to use the built in DJI reciever in the Caddx Vista) that's causing me a problem, and since I don't yet know what exactly I don't know, I can't even Google an answer. If anyone has some insight I would be very greatful.

  Bumps on arm for about 2-3 seconds when PWM Frequency High = ByRPM
Posted by: albertly - 28-Jan-2023, 12:33 AM - Forum: BLHeli_S & BLHeli_32 - Replies (1)

I have SpeedyBee BL32 50A ESC.
I use the latest revision of BLHeli_32 - 32.9
The motors I use are iFlight XING2 2207 1855KV.
6S LiPo

When I switch PWM Frequency High to "ByRPM" and arm the quad I can hear the rough sound and in the log I see bumps on many measurements: Gyro Scaled, Motors, DTerm, PTerm.

It lasts only a few seconds, after that everything is clean.

I want to emphasize it happens immediately after "arm" - rough sound, jumps and bumps in a log.

When I switch back to my old settings 48 low, 48 high - everything is clean as a whistle.

What's going on? Who to blame? ESC, ByRPM, motors ?
Maybe it's OK after "arm" - from 0 RPM to idle RPM makes such a behavior.

  Using FPV goggles as night vision goggles
Posted by: hman32 - 27-Jan-2023, 10:27 PM - Forum: Analogue FPV System - Replies (6)

I'm trying to make a set of night vision goggles using drone parts. I am planning to connect a Runcam night eagle 3 directly to the AV In/AV out port on the Skyzone SKY041L

Here's where I am confused

So the Night Eagle 3 is advertised as having 1000tvl which according to this website is equal to 1280x720.  The Skyzone goggles have a resolution of 1280x960 but according to this site the composite video signal can only carry 576i.

Am I overspending on resolution that I will not get or am I missing something here?

  Tiny Toad - 3"
Posted by: Lukeman - 27-Jan-2023, 04:54 PM - Forum: Mini Quad - Replies (32)

Didn't feel like jumping on the Five33 hype train for a simple 3" quad, so I decided to design my own frame that is comparable as far as weight and prop size goes. Decided to make something that can be used for racing as well as freestyle. The big push for me to make something of my own is because I have a CNC Router in my shop and a stack of carbon sheets so I figured why not!

Main Design goals:

-Durable
-Easy to build
-Fits HDZero 90fps cam
-AIO protection
-Top/bottom battery mount option

I'm not by any means a competitive racer. My local racing chapter has agreed to include my frame within their Tiny Trainer spec race as long as we keep similar setup the same. (3" props, 3s, 160-200g). This frame meets those requirements. We plan to race this Sunday at an indoor R/C car track facility. I'll be sure to post some video of the quad ripping around. Maybe I'll hand it over to one of the guys who is fast so I can see it in action.

Here's some pictures of the build. I did make some changes to shave a few grams from the frame plates vs the first iteration so that helped a bit. Right now I'm at 120g and 123g on both of my builds before battery. Add a 550mah 3s pack and I am at 170-173g.

  BEC for DJI O3 unit
Posted by: peek2much2 - 27-Jan-2023, 02:56 PM - Forum: General Topics - Replies (3)

Guys, would you say this BEC is good to use to hook up my O3 to my FC? I want to avoid going directly to VBat just in case some spike or something happens and fries my stuff.

MICRO BEC MATEK 6-30V TO 5V/9V-ADJ (6S)

* High Efficiency Synchronous Step-down regulator
* Wide 6V to 30V Operating Input Range
* Continuous load current: 1.5 Amps (Max.2.5A 5s/minute)
* VOut 5V or 9V Adj. Default is 5V.
* VOut Load Regulation: 2%
* Standby current: <5mA

Else, what would you all recommend or have done that's proven in regards to the O3 unit?

  Mobula 6 One Motor Not Spinning
Posted by: pa_li - 27-Jan-2023, 11:25 AM - Forum: Tiny Whoop & Micro Quad - Replies (5)

Hello,

One of the motors of Mobula 6 does not spin and make some cracking noise, please find video attached.
I did disconnect this motor from board and plugged in nearest motor - it worked. So I make assumption in motor disability.

Hey Guys
I was just having a shower thought and thinking if eachine was gonna come out with a Dji bnf/rtf. I think that would be great but the competition is rotor riot, getfpv bundles and so on. What’s y’all’s opinion? i think they should.
