Frame Types
#1
I've heard of a couple different frame types during my build progress, but I know there have got to be some more.
I haven't been able to find a good resource that describes the types.

All I have heard of so far is the School Bus and Compressed-X type.

Drop some knowledge!   Big Grin

X (Duh!)
Stretch X
Dead Cat (front arms swung back to avoid props in camera)
Low Rider reduced height between top and bottom plates)
Ducted (Indoor and Cine Whoop/close proximity)
Pusher (motors under frame to give clear prop thrust area)
Long Range (usually stretched lengthways and often also Dead Cat combined)

I don’t know the proper name for it, but there’s also “Z” frames- where one set of motors is right side up on arms attached to the bottom plate, and the other set of motors is upside down in a pusher configuration on arms attached to the top plate.

Toothpicks (or picks)- lightweight, skinny arms, usually with a canopy for the camera.

There’s also x8- 4 arms, 8 motors, one motor up and one motor down on each arm. Usually seen on cinelifters or anything made to carry a heavy payload.

Tricopters (3 motors, rear motor is usually attached to a servo).

Then there’s a “bone” frame, with two motors right side up, two motors upside down, squeezed into a line that looks kinda like a flying stick. I never could understand how those things can fly, but I kinda want to build one:

Oscar’s guide at the link below goes over a number of different frame types:

Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.
